Tahuna Residence

RESIDENTIAL RENOVATION

Description

This home sits quietly along a tree-lined street in Corona Del Mar. Its structure was sound, but the façade had lost its character over time. The goal was to bring it back to life with warmth, texture, and privacy, while keeping the design calm and balanced.

CONCEPT & GOALS

The remodel redefined how the home meets the street. The goal was to soften its appearance while improving privacy and durability. The clients wanted a façade that felt modern but understated, with materials and details that would age gracefully.

THE PROJECT INCLUDED:

  • A full façade remodel with new siding and
natural stone.

  • A redesigned entrance with refined roof and pilaster detailing.

  • A glass wall and water feature for privacy and movement in the atrium.

  • Updated exterior lighting and electrical systems.

  • Waterproofing and added insulation for
long-term comfort

Design & Process

We started by studying how light moves across the front of the house throughout the day.
The new design layers Coronado stone, smooth plaster, and warm neutral tones to create subtle contrast and shadow.

The new entrance anchors the front elevation, while the glass wall and fountain give the atrium both privacy and a sense of calm movement. Around the perimeter, the updated siding, paint, and lighting unify the exterior and highlight the home’s proportions.

Function and finish were treated with equal care. Updated lighting, waterproofing, and insulation were integrated in a way that performance can work with style hand in hand.

Challenges & Improvements

Before the remodel, the siding was worn, the atrium felt too exposed, and parts of the façade showed signs of age. The renovation resolved these issues with materials that bring both strength and warmth, restoring balance to the home’s exterior.

The
Result

The Tahuna Residence now presents a calm, cohesive façade that balances privacy, texture, and light. The transformation gives the home a grounded presence that feels both contemporary and enduring.
